Taipei: The Famous Shilin Night Market

Shilin Night Market is the must go when coming to Taipei.....there are plenty of food and shop and it lasted until really to the night....after shopping and eating elsewhere....we only arrived at around 9pm....and by the way...it is just beside the MRT station called Jian Tang and not Shilin station.....Shilin is just one stop after Jian Tang.....We exit the wrong way and ended up walking and crossing more roads

Shilin Night Market consisted of 2 parts....the New area which is newly built out of a public carpark and the old original street...the new one is the one beside the MRT and across one street is the original one...

We went to the new part where the open air one consisted of games stores like the ones u see in pasar malam here......and the sheltered ones are some shops and many food stalls.....

They even have shrimp fishing here....u dun hook them using baits but real hooks...

So we went to the food stalls part...not very crowded at 9++pm

As we walk....more people started to pour in...

and more.......

Stores here actually have seats for you to eat in and japanese food are common sight

so we also see taiwan sausages with many favours

and giant ones....

and we saw this BBQ stall

and saw the BBQ SQUID!!!

so I went to pick one also.......yummy

Then we saw this long queue.....

YES! This is the famous Shilin night market Big Chicken Cutlet...the one that made people queue here in Singapore also

as we reached closer....the signboard said.....this is the 2nd Store....so not the original first store

but for less than S$2.50...this is value for money....I came back Singapore and see that the on we have here is half the size and also half the thickness lor

Is so big I think is half a chicken.....u can eat the tender tight meat until the beast meat i there....the powder is great and the skin is crispy hot!!!

then we saw this funny thing just in front of the chicken cutlet store.....they have a long white candle burning and have the base of teh candle inserted into their ear.......yucks

done with the new part...we cross the road and go over to the original Night Market at Shilin...at about 10pm....Shops does not seems to be closing like Singapore....in fact...there are more people here lor....this is the main street outside the night market

just walking by the main road...we already start seeing more food stalls....like this "TWINS" is actually our fried "butterfly" here

We also see fruit stalls but the fruits here are not as big as the ones compared to Ling Jiang Night Market

and more food stalls along the road

Then we saw this long queue and familiar sign board and YES! This is the original Chicken Cutlet store.!!! too bad...we finished one big one already....cannot stuff anymore...

Then we saw this old skool cinema behind the chicken cutlet store......

Then we turned into one of the street....walaus...full of people at 10++pm....and more people seems to be coming in

The packed street inside the night market...........

This photo you see this push cart hawker in the middle of the street...this is illegal.....as you see the photos above showing the pack street..there is one without push cart hawker in the middle of the street....these cart are pushing into the night market when suddenly, I saw they rushing and pushing their cart out of sight within seconds.....then a dumb looking enforcer riding a scooter slowing through the crowded street and horning the crowd to make way for him came by.....hahaaa...i think the horning is to alert them to go away.....

It is already 11pm and the night market does not seems to slow down....in fact, seems that night life has just started....we got tired and saw this store selling dessert

And have one of this delicious dessert called " Snow Flower Ice"...the ice actually contains condensed milk and is very soft and silky and is strips...unlike the ice kacang we have...it melts once in your mouth and actually taste good enough without going with other stuff....ymmmy...they even ahve the peanut favoured one.....

we reached the entrance of the Shilin Night Market at 11++pm....people like us who do not have night life cannot tahan anymore and headed back to the mrt station to take the train abck to hotel....

but the exciting night life has just started at Shilin....and the thing is ....it is a MONDAY!!!!
