Anchorvale anyhow neighbourhood Run

After laying off for more than 10 weeks due to injury and illness....i decided pick up the "bits and pieces" again...it is much more difficult to re-start from ground ZERO than to train for a marathon...

Anyway, my next IPPT is in first week of march....i should try and get more of my tax money back this time.....

The worst part of the starting phase for running is weekend runs......In normal case, sat or sun morning will be the date for long run.....where I get to choose where to run for one to 2 hrs....and I can travel far and reaching places like east coast park, changi, MacRitchie which makes long runs more interesting and motivating....but now..with no ability to run more than 30min.....choices are limited and morale is low

This morning....i just try to find a route I never run before and do a short run...

A nice 4km route I found..............in 25:30min

Sinful Return! Adidas Kanadia TR

I decided to come back earlier than plan....but my engine to blog will pick up slowly......coming back with a "sin" is more than "perfect"

History has shown that whenever I am down and out of running...I will have new gears and new shoes and this down time without fail as well.....

This season Adidas Trail Shoes called Kanadia TR

shoes

from the dictionary, Kanadia is a country north of the United States with indentity issues to the extent that they can't decide on a currency, language, or whether to split up or stay together. The third largest land mass in the world, with large oil reserves in Alberta, a placid/polite and relatively small population, and a large unprotected border. A country that not only tolerates the French, but caters to them...............interesting

The shoes has its name tagged below the ankles and along the support structure

shoes

Instead of using a double or triple density foam on the medial side, adidas uses a rubber strip that runs from the heel counter down the middle of the outer foot and the arch area of the inner foot to the outsole

shoes

The aggressive outsole provides grips to uneven surfaces of the trail

shoes

The 3 strips are not sticked to the mesh but is used to allow locking the foot with different tension of the lacing system...notice that this is not a waterproof shoes but one with good ventilation and drainage which is suitable for local tropical trail terrain and environment

shoes

The first feel of this shoes are it is light and low to the ground, the midsole is not as hard compared to typical trail shoes and the adipene at the heel landing aera is soft....the mesh is soft and well ventilated..need to go to the trail to test out its grip and protection performance....this is good for fast and furious trail runs

shoes

Very colourful and striking colour combination

Taipei: Misc

This entry consist of other misc photos I took in taipei

We entered this shop called cosmed which is equivalent to our watson here...and saw Darlie in pink colour box

Photobucket

Nevermind about the pink..this is even more interesting....darlie is "black man" and they also have "white man"

Photobucket

Beside cosmed is a shop called "ASO"...i thought is the name of japanese PM....but is a direct translation from the chinese words "Ah skinny"

Photobucket

California Fitness is everywhere.....

Photobucket

Inside the shuttle bus to taipei 101.....they even have handles for standing passengers to hold at the back fo the seat...why we don't have it here??

Photobucket Photobucket

Designated open spaces among the cramp office buildings...

Photobucket

Busy street of taipei...

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

wonder what the big white box on the road is for?

Photobucket

Because the extreme right lane is designated for motorcycles only....if they need to turn to the left.....they cannot follow the car turn.....there is a box for them to hold and wait for their turn to go....

Photobucket

Bee coffee...apparently very popular...long queue....

Photobucket

IS coffee....the logo look like starbucks one

Photobucket

Big book on the street....

Photobucket

A famous bookshop in Taiwan.......like borders or Kikokuniya

Photobucket

One of the many sogo in taipei.....at least 4-5 along the same street

Photobucket

mrt station entrance.....and we trying to find a supermarket like ntuc.....no luck until we found it at the building beside the mrt station entrance

Photobucket

Then we realised....supermarket is called "welfare service centre" in chinese

Taipei: Metro or MRT system

Something very different compared to 11 yaers back when I visited taipei is the metro or mrt system......last time used to take a lot of cabs to go around.....but this time...I did not take any cab except to travel between airport and hotel...

I must say that I am quite impressed with the mrt system....Most of the can shop or can see or can visit places are within walking distance or just beside the mrt....and even my hotel is just 5min away from one....and there are more coming up....the new one is going to connect directly to taipei 101...at the moment, there is free shuttle bus provided from the nearest city hall mrt station

Also transfer between different lines is also convenient and easy with all the good signages.....some rails are above the ground and some are underground

Photobucket

The system is user friendly and there are a lot of signage.....as usual....must buy ticket first at the ticketing machine.....

Photobucket

The single trip ticket is a plastic coin....one thing...no deposit needed like the irritating one in singapore.....and the pastic coin also do tap and go at the gate

Photobucket Photobucket

So I was wondering once I reached the station I want...how do I return the coin and HAR!! There is a coin slot for you to return the ticket!!!

Photobucket

some station platform has no doors...open concept

Photobucket Photobucket

Some have doors and those are the stations mainly above the ground

Photobucket

and some even have the "half height" doors...

Photobucket

Every station has a clearly demacated waiting lines and lanes

Photobucket

and the people really queue up orderly and wait for passengers to alight before entering.....unlike Singapore mrt...got lines also never follow....door open just rush in...very mess

Photobucket

Signages at platform are well placed and showing the current station and its location in the line..got english and chinese somemore..this is right above the door at one of the station....singapore one need to find the map somewhere....above door only show current and next station name.

Photobucket

Another impressive thing is the accuracy of the train arriving projection is to the nearest 5sec.....if you see the photo on the left column....the time jumps every 5 sec and is accurate...unlike what we have here is to the nearest minute so you dunnoe 1min is coming in 10 sec or 59 sec.....

Photobucket

even got recycling bin in the platform......

Photobucket

This is the city hall station where there is a shuttle bus to taipei 101

Photobucket

This is the transfer corridor between one line to another line....electronic board even show the train information along the way.....something negative about this is you will see more people running after the train

Photobucket Photobucket

Adidas poster in the station.....with Nothing is Impossible chinese translation as well

Photobucket

This is the above the ground mrt tracks

Photobucket

Something catches my attention is the bicycle park outside the mrt station.....they have special racks to stack up more bicycles ...

Photobucket

Another Impressive thing is this "waiting zone for female passengers at night"...the notice somewhere mentioned that this zone will be covered more clearly by the security cameras compared to other places along the platform.....

Photobucket

There are even underground metro mall connecting one station to another station

Photobucket

In conclusion, travelling within taipei is very convenient and easy using the metro and is a pity that I do not enough time to travel further to explore like the zoo and beitou where the hot springs are........and I think our MRT system should come and study some of the plus points I mentioned that will benefits the passengers more......
