Back to the Roots.....Day 4: Jieyang

Day 4 marks the day that I looking forward to the most in the whole trip...it was the day of visiting and I get to see and get to know almost all the relatives here....the oldest being my grandfather's youngest brother still staying in the old village and the rest are his sons, daughters and the sons and daughters of the other brothers of my grandfather....

breakfast is buffet....i had a simple one

First activity is to go to the village temple to pray....one of my uncle there drove us to get some fruits

We went by the firing site of last nite fireworks...

We reached the old temple...which is very old....at least few hundred..

After praying, we proceed to see the old house that belongs to my grandfather...actually they said it should now belongs to my family and should be handled down to me as I am the eldest grand son...

After visiting the old house and the only remaining old area of the village, we proceed with our house visiting...

Just out of the old village, the world changes to modern few storey high concrete building...

Is Chinese New year so every house will have poems on red paper written on it pasted outside their door

At this first relative house that we encountered a traditional dish that we are supposed to take...eat a bit even if we cannot finish....is "ah ballings" with 2 fried eggs...simple but delicious actually

It is about lunch time so we proceeded to the second house for lunch....outside it...we saw our food lying outside

goose, snails, eels, sotong, crabs, orlua, prawns and the most important is a beautiful and fresh lobster...

After lunch, we head out to the shop of one of my uncle....along the way...we saw this man tying chicken...at least 20-30 of them to the back of his motorbike

One of my uncle shop selling, toilet, bathrooms and kitchen installations...honestly, a lot of the stuff are much better than what we have here...quality is very good

My uncle's tea set...the wood thing is from a special tree...this wooden piece alone cost few thousand dollars

Just beside the shop is a small eating places selling all the different kinds of meal....snake, turtle, rabbit, dog, cat, goose....

After a few more round of visiting, is time for dinner....we went by the main temple for the ancestor in the village...this is where all our ancestors are worship...how old this temple...dun ask me...is very old

And the day ended with me still trying to figure out who is who.....
