Death Valley Badwater Ultramarathon 2007
2 weeks back, I posted about our very own badwater ultramarathon challengers: Teacher Yong Yuen Cheng and MediaCorp News Senior Producer Lim Ngee Huat. They have successfully completed the challenge just more than 50hrs....As they are not able to qualify to compete in the actual race, they did it a week before the actual race and run also to raise fund for the charity cause...............
Now, for the actual race, very exciting year if you look at the statistics:
The two year-old course record was smashed by the rookie runner Valmir Nunes, 43, who came back from third place to take a hard-earned race win after an eventful night out on the road. His finishing time of 22:51:29 was a long way inside the previous mark of 24:36:08, set by Scott Jurek in 2005. Second place Akos Konya was also able to beat the previous record with his 2nd place finish in 23:47:47......78 of 84 starters finished officially in under 60 hours, 65 of them received the coveted belt buckle for completing the course in under 48 hours. Robin Smit, 70, of Fresno, CA, completed the race in 55:52:24 and became the second ever 70 year old to finish the race. He broke the 70+ age group record of 57:52:12 set by Jack Denness in 2005.....
Here is the video that covers the FLACO Mendoza from start to finish at this year's 135 mile race:

Here is the video on Scott Durek, the champion for last year and the previous record holder during last year race finish:

Cold Hazy SSD
Kena jio to do MR run....but due to time constraint and my current fitness condition, i decided to skip it again...anyway, only managed to wake up at 8++am......the weather is cool and it will be kind to the foreigners doing the OSIM Tri today........looking out of the window only saw hazy surrounding the estate...I need a run...so i just hook up onto my gear and head out....
Sat morning is supposed to be the standard time for LSD...but at my current state....can only do SSD...so i just run around the anchorvale and fernvale estate to checkout the development around the neighbourhood....haze seems to be heavy but weather is cold...the new sports complex is taking shape.....cannot wait for it to complete soon.......it was a hard run for me although the distance is only 5.6km....still need more conditioning......not bad to compelete in 33min

Transformer in REAL life
Cosplay is defined as costume play and role playing focusing on manga, anime, tokusatsu, and video games, and, less commonly, Japanese live action television shows, fantasy movies, or Japanese pop music bands....it has become a popular hobby among the japanese....amazing thing is...most of their costume are handmade by themselves and very close to the actual target character......happen to come across this cosplay on TRANSFORMER...i really respect these guys for their creativity:

A BMW with a kancil engine
IPHONES CRAZE
I am not a gadget guy...but i am in the electronics industry....so i am not a technology idiot either....looking at the specs of this new product in the markets...i cannot understand y pple are wiling to take a step backward in technology.......
The japaneses and koreans are the first to laugh at this products....i really doubt if this will kick off there.....they are already using maybe a 3.5G network? and this iphone is running on 2.5G!!! and 2.5G has been in Singapore for at least >3-4 yrs....we are in a 3G technology and i dun see why apple cannot use 3G for iphone......
One of the more important improvement for mobile phones over recent years i the capapbility of its camera....2MP is a minimum in majority phone and 3MP is common in new phones...u can even find 5MP in Nokia and even LG.....
yet iphone is running on a 2MP....and there are complaints abt its quality of the shot taken......
i would say this is a phone that packed a lot of features.....but the underlying engine is a step backward in technology...........like what i quoted above....a BMW with all the auto and advanced functions that you can see...but the car is running on a kancil(i know this is a bit too exaggerating)..........or comparable to even a Windows Vista which run on a Pentium 3 machine!!!
U may say Apple is creative in coming out with this product....but please....they are not even creative in coming out with the name....the name iphone is a trademark with CISCO and has been already in market for quite long before under CISCO....and apple got sued for it..READ on HERE
